DR ME Brief
Wanted to start something up themselves that differs from typical graphic design studios.
Intern with Mike Perry (Research him)
Make people aware you exist, through things like posters and physical things, think of imaginative ways of gaining exposure within the creative industry and for potential clients.
James Victore is good for having discussions with consider this for primary research and learning new things.
Make something that people interact with.
Collage.
Think of something that I can engage with for a year as a means of gaining exposure maybe something like a texture a day, something simple that can be created quickly and still maintain an impact.
Scan a day? (technology vibe but still has physical properties involved)
Cut that out book due to be released would be worth buying!
Write a list of things you want to do every year, even if unachievable just aim for them!
They work quite individual, a lot like SPIN they work on projects individually but submit the work they both produce to the client, they take advantage of there unique approaches. This is good for Equip plans!
Consider subtle ways of marking work to create a link between the work you produce with other people. Eg a logo mark to credit the work you do (If client allows)
Kill fees? Contacts, 50% upfront charge.
Hands on approach.
Brief
"you've got to speculate to accumulate"
The main focus of the brief is to create a mailer that communicates me and my creative practice, a good opportunity to expand on the 24 hour task in PPP with more focus on my appreciation of hands on approaches to the design process with engaging resolutions, technology and typography.

My Brief
Initial thought process
We were asked to avoid the use of computers from the outset, this relates well to what I have touched on in one of my self driven research briefs and how the over use of computers and internet sources as a source of "inspiration" can result in quite narrow minded resolutions with an already resolved solution in the mind of the designer before the thought process has even begun.
Not using computers and the internet allows a more free flow of individual thoughts to be developed, once these concepts and ideas have been developed then it can be beneficial to research visual influence.
Initial concepts to work from
To represent a hands on approach to the design process with an appreciation of physical resolutions and how it works within technology and innovation within creative practices through an emulation of software and technological innovation in design will be presented through cut & paste aesthetics that represent traditionally.
or
Show how a collaboration of two different working styles can work together to create stronger more informed outcomes revolving around a set manifesto that communicates analogue approaches, consideration to technologies, experimentation and functional design.
Idea generation
Current thoughts on how to approach this:
Gradients to represent the over reliance of presets in design software represented by spray paint and other analogue drawing mediums.
A brush in photoshop could be represented through a physical application of paint, same goes for pen tool etc.
Typesetting by hand, stenciling, drawing interpreted into a digital output through digital manipulation.
Resolve all these hands on approaches by scanning them in and digitally manipulating them with a CMYK application of color.
Work with Joe under the concept of creating physical resolutions with a digital aesthetic using hands on analogue techniques. This idea will also be an output for equip and show how our 2 different approaches can work together in a unique way.
Idea & Concept refinement & Interim evaluation
Myself and Joe began working on the idea of presenting our manifesto through the form of some prints informed by our process outlined in the idea generation stage, at this point Joe was working on a more substantial brief that required more concentration so I decided to take forward the idea of presenting my own manifesto into a visual resolution focusing on my approach that appreciates analogue process's and technology in equal measures while creating experimental work that remains functional.
Better time planning at this stage would have allowed us both to create the work but it was our first collab together so its something to learn from with delegating tasks and meeting mini deadlines within a project.
