Extended Practice Briefing & Overview and Brief Workshop

Extended Practice Briefing & Overview and Brief Workshop

Brief

Key Considerations
Refine into an area of Graphic Design with a driven area preferably relating to COP issues.
Synthesis of ideas
Focusing on individuality
Evidence & Record
Focused analysis of research, how it relates to the brief, my practice, why I chose it, how it will influence me etc
Reasoning for design decisions, not only for brief but also how it resonates with the overarching issue I explore highlighted in my statement of intent.
Explain thought process's relating to brief problems and overarching problem/investigation.
Clear documentation of problem analysis, ideas, development, resolution
Don't just rely on feedback, take personal responsibility and find feedback from other sources.
Consider academic decisions as well as relationship with professional design and effective conceptual, contextual and well informed design

Write a statement of intent for briefs
Subject matter I am investigating through practical work, how it relates to graphic design.
Research methods
Practical development
Conceptual references
Reflection and evaluation
Time scales
Approach to documentation

Brief Workshop
A workshop gave us the opportunity to gather feedback on our briefs, at this stage having a fresh pair of eyes looking over my briefs would result in small details been identified.

Feedback overall was very good, no real faults in the format of the briefs and the content, a few points where made about time scales as most of the briefs I set as ongoing long scale ones which seems quite relevant considering the size of them.

Identifying a target audience for the brief was mentioned but I was planning this as part of carrying out the brief, identifying a target audience should be part of the process but with the DH & JS trading brief I had already outlined a target audience with working with them last year. (Automotive industry & Mechanics)

Self initiated feedback
Some briefs would benefit from more focused and identified research aims, these restrictions will allow more focused research that relate to an overarching problem but will still allow me to find more niche sources within this area.
