Penguin Design Award - Plan & Statement of Intent 

To fully develop on each stage of my design process its important to follow a set plan on how to approach the brief from problem analysis to the final resolution, while breaking up these stages its important to delegate certain amounts of time to each task as not to over dwell on simple stages of the process or on the other end of the scale don't look into certain areas deep enough. Like research and reasoning for design decisions.

Subject Matter - 2-3 Hours 

Figuring out a subject matter by breaking down the book, creating a synopsis of the book. Breaking down the book into contextual points that could then go onto lead to a concept and visual resolution. 

Research Methods - 1.5 Day

Once the subject matter has been figured out through a thorough analysis of the book breaking down key points within the book that could spare potential ideas a collection of research will be gathered that resonate with these points tying in together visual and contextual research. Its important not to depend on the ideas I get from visual eye candy but also what concepts and ways of applying certain strategies to a design resolution. This will come from visual analysis of a design but also tying together theoretical quotes that expand on my COP. 

Development - Resolution - 2 - 4 Days

For this brief its important to work out how to apply the research I have gathered into a strong concept and delivery plan that revolves around a set subject matter taken from the book breakdown and synopsis. So going in with a thorough contextual idea generation will be important before figuring out how to visually resolve it.

Once a number of ideas have been generated, combining key points from each idea will strengthen and feed into a concept that can then begin be planned into a visual delivery through a thorough visual scamping process narrowing down to a key 5 or so scamps to then take key contextual and visual reference points to begin digitally developing a final resolution taking all points from research and idea generation along the way.

Documentation - Ongoing

Blog the development and the research so I can follow the key points that are important to feeding into an overall stronger resolution, my sketcbook will be the starting point for visual developments as I prefer a hands on approach to figure out a visual resolution before turning to the mac for things like font choice, colour application and more detailed layout principles. This has been my process since the first year and has worked. 

Evaluation - 2 Hours

An evaluation for this will be important as its one of my first substantial briefs and will set the ground for further enhancing my approach, process, ideas and resolutions for the rest of the year.
